When was the last time you laughed so hard your sides hurt? It's not often enough that we relax enough to feel that way. Nothing is so satisfying as a good laugh.
One thing my husband and I have started doing every so often is watching Just for Laughs Gags on our iPad before bed. Some people might find the show silly (really, though, how are Canadians playing pranks on each other silly?) but after the third video or so I always find myself uncontrollably cracking up. We've found that a good laugh can really lull you to sleep.
I wanted this date to do the same thing: let us leave thoughts of our miserable world behind us long enough to let loose with a night of stress-relieving, heart-warming, ab-hurting, hearty laughs. And who better to let loose with than the one you love (or like, or are slightly interested in)? The date is the perfect combination of passive and active. Not only do you get to sit back and enjoy other people being funny, but you also get the chance to be funny yourself (and it's not intimidating, I promise).
When Matthew and I went on this date I particularly appreciated the games. While I majored in theatre and film in college and have a--shall we say theatrical?--personality, my husband is more reserved. The games gave him a chance to show me how he can think on his feet, crack jokes and be creatively clever. Gee, more reasons to love him.
I have to say that an episode of Parks and Recreation inspired the "Spit Takes" game idea. Who can resist giving that a try? Though it is a bit of a mess, it is thoroughly worth it.

They say that laughter is the best medicine and with this date you are going to get a hefty dose. Follow our suggestions for hilarious comedy videos and play games that will push you just enough out of your comfort zone for lots of fun. Add in a little healthy competition and you have the recipe for the perfect date night.
Materials Needed:
Printable Invite
Printable Score Board
Printable Games - Tongue Twisters, List 5, Spit Takes, Amateur Expert
Printable "Trophy"
Comedy Videos
Snacks and Beverages
Instructions:
Download the free printables below--including the invite, score board, games, and trophy--and print. Cut out the pieces (we recommend using a portable paper cutter). Then, gather any other materials you may need.
Deliver the invite to your date. You could leave it out on the counter one morning, send it via snail mail, pin it to your fridge, or come up with something else creative.
Set the scene. Set out the snacks and games. Set up any videos you want to watch on your streaming service of choice.
When your date arrives, talk about a prize for the night's winner and what comedy videos you want to watch. Let them pick a video first, then alternate. Remember--whoever picks the funniest video gets extra points in the end.
Between videos, play the games. Spit Takes requires a beverage for each of you and will be a little messy, but worth it. The others don't require anything special. Don't forget that it is a competition and whoever wins gets the prize.
Once your games are gone and you have watched all the videos you wanted to, tally up the scores. Write the winner on the trophy and deliver the prize. Let the hilarity begin!
