Here’s how it works. Throughout the night, you will leave a trail of romantic surprises for your date. Each surprise will include a printable card that reveals each surprise, whether it is a night on the town or a romantic evening in. The entire night is your choice! You can download and print the entire date night kit at the bottom of page.

We made the cards somewhat vague so that you can use all or some of them in whatever way you wish. We recommend you choose several as it is a night full of surprises. Here are some ideas for what can accompany your surprise cards:

Roses are Red, Violets are Blue

As per tradition, give your date fresh flowers. You can skip the florist and get fresh flowers delivered right to your door with Amazon Prime. Or go the super classy route and give them a corsage or boutonniere instead. Sound too fancy? Go with a flower display that lasts forever, like a domed rose or LEGO bouquet.

This is Our Song

Play a song, artist, or album that has special meaning to the two of you. Even better, dance to it. You can learn to dance from your living room on YouTube, or go out dancing. Many places give a lesson before the dancing begins.

A Little Something Sweet

Make or buy your date's favorite dessert, or just take them out for ice cream. Want to spice it up this Valentine’s Day? You could even take this one into the bedroom.

On with the Show

Go to a concert or the theatre, or even an opera, dance show, or ballet. Don't be afraid to get a bit out of your element and try something new. Sharing new experiences together, especially ones you are not familiar with, brings couples closer together and makes your Valentine's Day memorable.

Dinner for Two

Make your date’s favorite meal or cook it together. You could also take them out to their favorite restaurant or a restaurant where you have fond memories together. If you would rather change things up, try cooking something new and doing a special activity, like the ideas in these date night cookbooks.

On-Screen Romance

Watch your date's favorite movie. If you already watched it recently, choose a romantic movie and take a turn at reenacting the steamiest scenes. Need ideas? Try Pride & Prejudice (2005), Titanic (1997), or La La Land (2016). If you don’t think you can stomach anything that romantic, choose something from a different genre that still has romance. The Princess Bride (1987) would be a fun choice, and Once (2006) or Moonrise Kingdom (2012) could be good options too.

Setting the Mood

Dim the lights or light candles around the room (or avoid the fire hazard with flameless candles). Scatter rose petals on the bed. Fill the bathtub with bubbles. Pour some champagne or sparkling cider. Do something different that makes your date feel special.

Something New to Sleep In

Buy yourself some fancy new underwear, lingerie, or even just goofy pajamas. Make the night feel different by wearing something you wouldn't usually. Alternatively, buy something new for your husband or wife. Just make sure they would enjoy that kind of gift in advance.

A Place All to Ourselves

This can mean a variety of things, but for certain it means some alone time. Maybe you get a hotel room for the night, or maybe you have the kids stay with a family member so you can have the house to yourselves.

A Little Something Special

Give your date a thoughtful gift, something you know they have always wanted. It could be anything from jewelry to basketball tickets. Have no idea? Do the simple thing and ask. Your date will appreciate that you are showing interest in things they like. Just be sure to let them know you listened and buy them something they ask for. Here’s another hint: make a note in your phone of other things they asked for and surprise them next time.
